We Are
BIPOC Kids on the Block!

Empowering Youth of All Ages

Celebrating Culture

Building Community

At BIPOC Kids on the Block, we are dedicated to providing safe spaces for children and teens to meet-up meaningfully and create lasting cultural connections.

Living in Seacoast New Hampshire can be a challenge for people of color -- particularly if the family has relocated from a large city. Opportunities for diverse experiences here are often left to large-scale annual celebrations that spread across the entirety of Southern New Hampshire. Where do these families go the rest of the year to gain culturally-enriching, local experiences?

That's where BIPOC Kids on the Block comes in! We have created an experience unlike any other in the Seacoast -- a place where children of color and their families can embrace the beauty of their diversity and celebrate that of others. We are highlighting the rich cultures that make up the fabric of our Seacoast community and of the world. Children are learning from and about others' heritage so that they can be more well-rounded, and approach new experiences with open minds and hearts.

Representation matters. And children of color gathering in groups where they see representations of themselves is crucial to their development and self-confidence. We want every child of color in the Seacoast to feel empowered to advocate for themselves and to feel a sense of belongingness in their community.

PROGRAMS & EVENTS

BIPOC Kids on the Block started with our multi-age meetups with various focused activities. These "meaningful meetups" are our roots and will always be provided on our schedule on a monthly or bi-monhtly basis. This type of program structure is typically a combination of open play for youngsters, with instructor-led activities, projects, or workshops for tweens and teens (grown-ups, too!). Caregivers are encouraged to network and join the fun while supervising their children.

As BKOTB grows, we are now able to provide age-specific programming in addition to all-ages events. Community leaders and allies invite us to utilize spaces to facilitate programs for families at different stages of life. Morning playgroups for babies and toddlers,  after-school "dinner dialogues" and life skills workshops for tweens and teens, and our benchmark weekend meetups for all ages are just some of what your family can expect from joining BKOTB.

Additionally, through partnerships with local middle and high schools, we encourage mentorship and connection between our older and younger members; and support youth-led activities and ideas that older youth want to facilitate.

PARENTS + CAREGIVERS
We See You, Too!

Raising BIPOC children, no matter your race or ethnicity, has its unique challenges. Let our community help.

We have spoken to many families and know that the need for parents to connect and build community while raising children of color is of great importance.

Our meetups are a fantatsic way to meet other families who can be a resource for you -- and you for them. In fact, we expect our families to pour into the group, not just take from it. Whether it's leading a workshop or class, or organizing the refreshments for a meetup, there is a part to be played.

As our Parent Group grows, so will our "Parent-Only" events. From coffee mixers to game nights, we want our parent members to feel a sense of belongingness, too. We will strive to ensure that happens.
